Jeffrey Yuen in Los Angeles (Oct. 16 - 19, 2015)

American University of Complementary Medicine

presents

DR. JEFFREY C. YUEN

Working with Destiny: The role of the eight extra channels

30 CEU Hours in Category I, pending approval by the CA Acupuncture Board

According to Classical Daoist medicine, the incarnation of a spirit/soul/ling into a particular body is not a random event. The spirit is attracted into a body based on the stored potential of that body. This potential is what unfolds to become the lessons the soul is subjected to. The stored potential and its unfolding are both under the category of Jing in Chinese medicine. While one’s potential is codified within the jing, this jing can be altered, damaged or depleted through many mechanisms. The unfolding of this stored potential is represented by the nine palaces or nine heart pains and their culmination is what we call Ming or destiny.

Disease can be caused either by damage to the jing, or a disease could be a part of one’s curriculum. How the body interfaces with jing and the issues that arise from jing are primarily dealt with through the eight extraordinary vessels.

In this weekend, Jeffrey Yuen will explore the role of the eight extra channels as they deal with the fundamental aspects of life’s purpose, the way in which that purpose is actualized and how we can work with health and disease. On Friday, Jeffrey will begin a thorough discussion of Jing, both in terms of its embodiment of our curriculum and its role in health and longevity. He will discuss both the theory of jing, and how we assess jing from a diagnostic standpoint including various methods that can be used to assess the state of jing such as pulse diagnosis, physiognomy and palpation. He will also discuss how to identify where jing may be holding latency/pathology.

On Saturday and Sunday, Jeffrey will introduce the theory of the eight extra channels and how these tools can be used to help facilitate or potentially alter the unfolding of jing to influence stubborn health issues.

On Monday Jeffrey will do a practicum where the group will have hands on experience with pulse diagnosis, palpation and physiognomy.
