Nan Jing:
One of the oldest and most influential works in the history and practice of Chinese Medicine is the Nan Jing or "Classic of Difficulties". In the second of a two part series, Taoist priest and physician, Jeffrey C. Yuen will further elucidate topics from the Nan Jing. On Day 1, he will discuss the Nan Jing's theory of disease progression including how we can predict where a disease is going, how to determine the severity of the disease (prognosis) and the various needling techniques the Nan Jing recommends for treatment. For example, if a patient presents with prostate cancer, how can we determine both the likelihood of metastasis as well as where it is likely to metastasize to? Day two will be a comprehensive discussion of Insomnia and sleep disorders and their treatment according to the Nan Jing with Taoist commentaries on dream interpretation.

Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) for longevity
Many people have found Taijiquan to be beneficial to their health as a gentle and relaxing exercise. However, Taijiquan is a powerful healing and cultivation modality that can both strengthen your resistance to disease and treat diseases. According to Taoist traditions, the healing effects come from the correct combination of the 3 treasures. Within Taijiquan the three treasures are combined through posture, intention and synchronicity with the present moment (the Tao). Variations in posturing and in directing the qi will produce different results. In this class, Taoist Priest Jeffrey Yuen will teach little known intricacies ofTaijiquan using the Yang Family short form as the base. He will discuss the 13 postures, their effects on health, and how one can manipulate the energy within a posture to treat various health conditions. Through this class, you will learn how to customize the form to your own body's condition and how to utilize the conditioned movements of the form to cultivate spontaneous movement, which is the ultimate realization of Taijiquan.
