Classical Chinese Medical treatment of infertility: Lessons from the Imperial physicians
November 13-15, 2010
To the emperor and high officials, having progeny was essential. As such, the treatment of infertility was of great concern to imperial physicians. In this class, Dr. Yuen will teach the theoretical underpinnings of infertility from the viewpoint of the imperial physicians. On Saturday and Sunday, Dr. Yuen will discuss pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment according to the imperial school, including herbal formulations, the use of acupuncture (including secondary vessels) and diet.
On Monday, Dr. Yuen will teach a special practical section on pulse diagnosis for infertility. Space may be limited for the pulse session.
Dr. Jeffrey Yuen received his herbal medicine training apprenticed to one of the last imperial physicians. Dr. Yuen's command of the classics, both as a scholar and as a clinician is extremely vast. Raised since childhood in the Daoist traditions, Dr. Yuen brings an incredible amount of oral tradition and commentary that explain many of the often confusing portions of the classic texts. He is considered by many to be one of the great treasures in Chinese Medicine today.
