PANIC ATTACKS & PAINS IN THE BACK & NECK
January 30-31, 2010
PANIC ATTACKS (Saturday) & PAINS IN THE BACK & NECK (Sunday): JAPANESE KIIKO-STYLE ACUPUNCTURE WITH KIIKO MATSUMOTO, L.AC.
Anxiety disorders are the most common of all mental health problems, afflicting more than 1 out of 8 people sometime during their lifetime & costing around $46 billion a year in direct and indirect healthcare costs. Of the anxiety disorders, panic is an especially debilitating condition. People with panic disorders experience feelings of terror that strike suddenly and repeatedly with no warning. The attacks are usually accompanied by shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations, nausea, and/or abdominal distress. On Saturday, master acupuncturist Kiiko Matsumoto will discuss and demonstrate highly effective techniques for treating persons suffering from panic disorders, and on Sunday, she will review her latest techniques for treating back and neck pain.
Kiiko’s style of acupuncture is a synthesis of her own clinical findings and ideas with the approaches of many prominent Japanese acupuncturists. Through extensive clinical practice as well as her own interpretations of Chinese medical classics, Ms. Matsumoto has succeeded in integrating different approaches to create a coherent and highly effective style of her own that embodies ideas from the Chinese classics and modern Western medicine. The main characteristic of this style of acupuncture is the verification of acupuncture points and their clinical effectiveness before beginning a treatment by use of palpatory techniques.
