Little-Known Energetics of the Spleen, Heart, & Small Intestines Primary Meridians (Friday & Monday)
On October 23 & 26, Dr. Yuen takes a fresh look at the Spleen, Heart, and Small Intestines primary channels. Depicted in classical texts as one long continuous circuit, the primary channels tell the story of the prerequisites and requisites of our postnatal lives in each of three energetic layers. The first layer details the necessities for survival, while the second and third layers portray our needs for interaction and differentiation. On Friday, Dr. Yuen will focus his attention on the physiology, pathophysiology, and psychology of the Spleen and Heart Primary Meridians. On Monday, Dr. Yuen will discuss the physiology, pathophysiology, and psychology of the Small Intestines Primary Meridian. Dr. Yuen also will delineate the philosophical implications of these two meridians and the lessons they can teach us. In addition, he will discuss essential oils and gems and stones that resonate with the Spleen, Heart, and Small Intestines meridians.
Classical Chinese Herbal Program
(Saturday - Sunday)
On October 24 and 25, Dr. Yuen will discuss Shen Nong’s Ben Cao, the earliest extant text on Chinese material medicine. This text describes three classes of natural substances: 1) superior-grade herbs, animal products, stones, grains, fruits, and tree products used for prevention; 2) middle-grade herbs and other natural substances that are used on a restorative basis after illness; and 3) lower-grade herbs, animal products, stones, grains, fruits, and trees that treat disease. Modern Chinese medicine, however, rarely discusses herbs from the first class -- those that can help us maintain our lives and lifestyles and benefit our communities. In this weekend of the program. Dr. Yuen will discuss herbs, animal products, stones, grains, fruits, and tree products used for restoration and treatment. He also will present some of the incantations used with these substances to focus the power of the practitioners’ and clients’ intentions.
